“Where is the disability? I don’t see it! ” remarked IC students attending the Unified Sports Day. Although February 9th is an official holiday in Lebanon, IC students formed partnerships with their guest athletes from various social welfare institutions in Lebanon (Tanmia Fikrya for individuals with intellectual disability) and assumed different roles: cheerleaders, reporters, and event organizers. Teams' names were brainstormed: Tom and Jerry, lions and tigers BUT Barcelona and Manchester finally won the day! Then some posters were designed to celebrate the event. After warming up, the game began accompanied by the cheering, singing, dancing and, off course, the ‘Derbakeh”. Partners were surprised by athletes' performance and abilities.
Needless to say, the success of the event has encouraged further collaboration in conducting more unified sports days in the near future.
