Parents and sometimes siblings accompany the youngsters.

The admissions process for preschool nursery and petit jardin sections at IC begins in February when parents pick up an application form from the preschool administrative offices. The next step is the return of the completed form and the scheduling of an interview appointment. On interview day, at the designated hour, families arrive for a brief and pleasant visit with one of the preschool teachers. Everything is arranged in advance to make children feel welcomed and to capture their interest. Teachers and parents sit in the tiny chairs along-side the interviewees.
Parents sometimes view this as a child’s first “test”, but that is not the case at all. There is no test. Toys and other materials, arranged in easy reach on the table, stimulate play while the teacher watches and interacts. The visit is an opportunity for the teacher to observe the child and develop a sense of whether he or she is physically and socially ready for school. Decisions are made and families notified in less than a month.

Applicants play and explore in a way that is natural for three-year-olds.

An atmosphere is created to put children and parents at ease.
