Teacher Exchanges, in addition to other benefits, form the foundation for international friendships to grow based in mutual professional interests and sharing. The ERC Teacher Exchange program is based on a simple premise: schools swap teachers for a week. Following are excerpts from an assessment of his experience written by a teacher from the International School of Geneva: “If like myself prior to my arrival (in Beirut) you know little about the place, its people and its history, then you are in for a roller coaster ride into a deep and fascinating country, with its multiple identities, great strengths and all too media-evident weaknesses. Beirut definitely has the WOW factor and one cannot remain impervious to the sites, sounds and the cultures that I witnessed during my short stay. I would like to finish by stating that we as educators have a moral and professional obligation not to accept the status quo but to strive to build a platform upon which today’s youth can build the future. In order to fulfil that mission we need to train ourselves to think outside the box and there is no better way of facilitating that process than by taking part in a teacher exchange.”
