With help from teacher Mrs. Sahar Kadi, students compare items on their list with what they see on the shelves.

KGII and GS students are applying lessons for life outside the classroom as well as working on the theories of the classroom. The end result of the project is a nutritious breakfast planned and hosted for invited guests. With this exciting goal in mind, the students begin preparations well in advance. The first step is a letter to Preschool Director, Mrs. Randa Khoury, requesting funding for the proposed breakfast and inviting her to be their guest at the party. Other guests are also invited. Next a menu is planned for a nourishing and balanced meal and after that, a grocery list for the necessary food.
Now for the trip to the supermarket as a classroom where students guided by their teachers chose only those items on their prepared list. Everything is ready for the breakfast party that will be remembered as a lesson that is fun to learn. The student shoppers experience several concrete lessons and some more abstract concepts as well.
The organization and classification of supermarket stock, to match and check off items on their list may be new notions for them. There is classroom discussion of the difference between nutritious foods and junk foods. They will think about the math involved in cost and payment of their groceries. The enjoyment following the effort is not to be over-looked as part of a lesson for life.

Students came to the supermarket prepared with a list of items they planned to buy.

Paying the check-out cashier teaches the necessary payment.

At last the main event, breakfast with friends and guests.

Parents and cafeteria staff help with preparation and serving the breakfast.
