Tuesday and Wednesday evenings offered “Celebrate,” a Christmas concert by the Senior Choir, Junior Choir and Boys Choir in Issam Fares Auditorium.

From the opening “festival procession” with the singers clad in red hooded capes and carrying lanterns, the audience knew it was in for a treat. The combined choirs packed the stage and front of the hall to offer “Good Cheer” and “Christmas for Two.”

The Junior Choir exhibited strong, confident voices with their renditions of “Bidi Bom” and “Cantar.”

The 20-strong Boys Choir (the only school boys choir in Lebanon) gave a confident version of the Latin hymn, “Gloria.”

Fresh from their triumph over the weekend at the Casino du Liban, the Senior choir thrilled the audience with the variety of their repertoire. Moving from the stately traditional carols “Riu Riu Chiu,” an a capella “Carol of the Bells,” and “In Memoriam,” they offered a medley of ten songs including some rock and roll, rap and even a little country.

Finally, the three choirs joined together for closing songs that featured a haunting “Peace to the World.”

This was an evening to remember!

Congratulations to all the choristers and their leaders Randa Sabbah, Tatiana Bondarovich and Lydia Sabra.
