The IB Theater Arts Troupe presented Paul Zindel’s “The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds” on November 23 and 24 in Imad Taher Auditorium.
The production was unique in that it was entirely student-run. Under the direction of Milia Ayache, four student actors gave convincing performances of the three members of the dysfunctional Hunsdorfer family: the abusive mother, Beatrice (played by Randa Adra), the talented but abused daughter Tillie (played by Natalie-Dana Haraké) and the schizophrenic daughter (played by Rana Nasser Eddin). Sevag Bakalian played two roles, as the octogenarian “boarder” Nanny and the cocky student, Justin Vickery. All technical aspects of the performance (i.e., set design, light and sound design and make-up) were the responsibility of members of the troupe, which included the four actors and director as well as Sarah Jaber and Dina Adlouni.
Congratulations to the members of the IB Theater Troupe for such a wonderful, moving debut performance!
