The Sustainable Transport campaign was one of many IC Community Service spring projects. It was planned in collaboration with Green Line Association, a non-profit organization for environmental conservation. Sustainable transportation refers to alternative methods of travel aimed at reducing the number of cars on the road and to promote the concept of environmentally friendly modes for moving around. Community Service students spent two days raising awareness on campus by distributing information during the breaks and encouraging other students and teachers to join them in their main event; a group bicycle ride from downtown Beirut through Manara, ESA, past the AUB Medical Gate and finishing at IC. The conclusion of the tour was the installation of a bike-stand donated by Green Line Association. Bikes and safety-helmets were also provided by Green Line for anyone wishing to ride. Other Community Service spring activities included a re-forestation project in conjunction with the Association of Forest Development and Conservation, the on-going functions and visits with orphans, the Roumieh Juvenile Facility and the Deaf and Blind institution.

Community Service students organized a bike trip through the city to draw attention to the concept of alternative transportation possibilities.

The bike tour traveled along the Corniche while protected by a police escort.

The final leg of the trip, up Bliss Street, included installation of a bike-stand at the AUB gate.

The Sustainable Transport project concluded in the IC parking lot with installation of another bike-stand there.

Under the direction of the Association of Forrest Development and Conservation, students used recycled organic compost material to plant trees.

Each student prepared a planter for which they will assume individual responsibility.

One of the on-going Community Service commitments is visits and activities with orphans.
