The annual IC teachers’ dinner celebrating National Teachers’ Day, honoring IC staff with twenty-five years of service and retirees had a new special ceremony as part of the agenda this year on Friday, March 12. It was the presentation of the first annual Albert Abela Distinguished Teacher Awards. The awards are recognition of outstanding professional performance in all teaching areas and at all levels. Recipients, who are nominated by teachers and students, are current teachers who exemplify the following characteristics: excellent teachers and instructional leaders; model by word, deed and attitude a commitment to the values embodied in the IC mission statement; continued professional growth and have made significant contributions in student advising, student activities, curriculum writing and College outreach.
