Why was Beirut known as the mother city of law-making? The question and multiple-choice answer appeared in the Lebanese Heritage General Knowledge Contest on the first day of the Ain Aar week of national heritage activities designed to make students aware of their country’s geography, history and tradition. The poet Henry Zogheib visited and gave a talk to students and visitors. There was a week-long exhibit of student works including Power Point presentations, crafts and research projects. One highlight was Lebanese Cuisine Day when parents gave generously of their time and talent to prepare and serve traditional Lebanese foods while dressed in traditional costume. Because no Social Studies project is complete without a field-trip, on Saturday different classes traveled to Beit-Mery, Bekaa, Karaoun Lake, Kefraya and the Barouk Cedars National Park.

Parents prepared traditional foods and dressed in traditional costumes to serve the food.

Home-made traditional food was served all day on Lebanese Cuisine Day.

Several students worked in small groups to produce Power Point presentations about Lebanon for the exhibition.

Research projects were part of the week-long exhibition of student work.
