Dr. Charles welcomes secondary students to the I.C. amphitheater

In its history, the beloved amphitheater on the Ras Beirut campus was in constant use. All College meetings were held there, performances were staged and some teachers took students to the amphitheater for class from time to time. Even the elementary school came up the hill to use the space. During the war, security questions made it advisable to seek alternatives. Now it’s time to recapture some of our sentiment surrounding this special place.

On Monday, October 1st, Dr. Charles convened an all school meeting of the secondary school in the amphitheater. Students seemed to relish the opportunity to be together all at once in such a comfortable place with so much tradition around it.

A break from class combined with a perfect meeting place cheered students on Monday morning

Dr. Charles told students he wanted to introduce himself to them, briefly describe his background and talk about his philosophy and goals. His personal goals are to maintain an “open door” policy, to visit classrooms and build a sense of community. His objective for students is to graduate from I.C. with the ability to think critically and solve problems asking “why” rather than who, what or when; to develop a strong work ethic and a firm sense of right and wrong.
